PROCESS FOR HAVING YOUR OWN WEBSITE
Following are the process steps for having me design a website for your rentals.
1. You will pay me half of the design fee ($250) to commence work on the website design. The remaining $250 will be due when you are satisfied and the website has been published.
2. You will decide on a name for your website and let me know what name you desire. Read the "Picking a Website Name" information that follows these process steps.
3. You will tell me if you want different pages than the page types included in the condosbypaula website. Note; the content of the pages will, of course, differ.
4. You will provide me with new text, or changes, for the pages.
5. You will provide me with new/replacement photos. Emailed JPG files or mailed prints (I will return mailed prints after they have been scanned).
6. After your inputs are received I will prepare a draft website for you review.
7. We will communicate as many times as necessary until the website meets your approval.
8. I will take the necessary Search Engine Optimization steps to ensure that your website can be found by people doing Internet searches.
9. I will publish the website (upload it to the host computer/server). The website will then be available on the Internet to everyone.
10. You will pay me the remaining $250 design fee.
11. I will maintain the website at no additional charge for one year. This includes making needed webpage changes/corrections but there will be an additional charge for any significant layout or content changes. I am very reasonable and additional charges during the first year are generally not necessary.
12. After the website has been published you will do what ever you chose to do to promote the website (click on the above PROMOTE link for ideas).
13. After the first year, I will make web page changes for a reasonable charge.
NOTE: I will provide you with the host server ID and password information if you should at anytime, after the website is published, chose to have another webmaster maintain the website.
PICKING A WEBSITE NAME
Every website has a unique name (cnn.com, irs.gov, havard.edu, charter.net, etc.). You must decide on a name for the website that nobody else has used/reserved. You also have to decide on an extension (.com, .net, etc.). The most common extension is ".com" which is the extension I recommend. The unique domain name is actually the combination of the basic name and the extension and is called a URL (Uniform Resource Locator).
Before you can use a website name you must determine if anyone else has already registered (owns) that name. This can be done by doing a name search at a domain name registration website. I use networksolutions because it allows you to enter multiple names and shows available extensions. DO NOT register the name as that registration will be accomplished by me and is included in the website design fee.
The website name has no bearing on search results. An easy to remember, and not too long, name that people can remember is best. Word-of-mouth advertising is one of your best promotion tools so you want people to remember the website name so they can tell others.
